Cycling Trips in and around hyderabad ( Telangana special)

PEDAL  WEEKENDS OF HYDERABAD

(HYDERABAD TO MEDAK TO POCHARAM RESOURVOIR AND BACK )

Peddaling weekends are series of blogs for adventure seeking hyderabad gen x who wanna explore the hidden gems of the city to which we belong to and even might be the case of born and brought up in same city. In first series, i am gonna write about  north of hyderabad . To distance from hyd to medak is around 80 km and further 20 km ahead is pocharam hunting ground of  erstwhile nawabs.

DEGREE OF DIFFICULTY
Its a medium level of difficulty according to my views. Roads are good, terrain is more or less flat with small stretches of up slope and downslopes in between , terrain from dundigal after air force academy till narsapur is lush green forest with two small villages in between. Even ahead of medak till pocharam is also reserve forest. Over all road through out is good and is both traffic , road and terrain is bike friendly

MUST VISIT
(1)       14 th century medak is a must visit, make effort to go till top, all around the year there is good winds which are experience while sitting on top beside the mosque
(2)       Pocharam bird sanctuary and reservoiur which was old hunting grounds of nawabs is a place where you can sit for hours
(3)       Church of Medak with its huge entry cathedral structure is a place where regular prayers are offered.

CONTIGENCIES AND NEAREST PLACES OF HELP
Unlike other parts of hyderabad this stretch is much less populated thanx to reserve forest , still there is a villages every 10 Km where you can get your basic first aid and cycle mechanic shops. Only big towns are medak and to some extent narsapur depending on your defination of big town.

CLEAN LOO GUIDE
Though a very difficult discovery on least on this road only decent washroom are on 4-5 petrol filling stations but have to check out about their present state depending on your search operation on call of nature

BUDGET
Practically you ask this is a trip which can be done with a budget of Rs 100 to 200. Good number of public transport is also available throughout as a need arises. Even if after reaching medak and you run out of stamina or other reasons you can put your cycle on  the state govt bus which runs every hour back to hyderabad with ticket of just Rs 40. For Snacking and smoking brakes good amount of tea stalls are available through out. If you want to stay put over night Haritha hotel in medak fort is a descent option. Entry of bird sanctuary is around Rs 20.

From Y fork of gumdidala take rt turn , there z around 3 km stretch of unbuilt road, there is again a T junction, take left head in north direction , after 2 village , you wil hit main narsapur – tupran road, from here either you can turn left and reach narsapur after 8 km and return back to hyd by same road. Another option is to turn rt and head towards tupran and return via nagpur highway via medchal.
